At age 15 I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and had to have my leg amputated above the knee for my best chance of survival.
After learning how to walk all over again on a walking prosthesis I decided I wanted to learn how to run, I was then fitted for a carbon fibre running leg and started running competitively. In the August of 2005 I tried out for and was accepted as a member of the Emerging Talent squad for Beijing or London.
In July last year I ran an A qualifier which allowed me to represent my country in Beijing. It was an experience of a lifetime and finishing 6th in the Final was also a great achievement. …..
Since Beijing I have taken that extra step with my training and Broke the World record in the 200m at the Afrafura games in 2009 and Australian Record for the 100m.
A week of training for me involves 3 to 4 track session, 3 gym session and a couple of pool sessions.
In August 2009, I completed one of my most toughest challenges yet when I successfully climbed Mt Kilamanjaro. It was one of the best experiences of my life and hardest both mentally and physically.
